  • Open Afternoon Program "Butze": All children and young people are warmly welcome at the "Butze." This open afternoon program is a low-threshold project for children and young people. Starting in August 2019, it will complement the existing learning support program with an additional program for children of diverse social and national backgrounds aged 6-14, supporting them in their development into independent and socially competent individuals. This project expansion will enable even more children and young people to be supported and gain sustainable perspectives for the future. The "Butze" provides a protected and safe environment, especially for disadvantaged children and young people, where they receive expert support with their homework, a healthy lunchtime snack, individual preparation for tests and project presentations, and child-friendly educational programs from Monday to Friday from 12:00 p.m. The children and young people are supervised and supported by four volunteers, a state-certified social worker, a social assistant, a professional intern in their recognition year, and an intern under the pedagogical direction. Here, children and young people can spend their free time together and participate in special activities. The "Butze" promotes integration, provides fun, encourages people to try new things, awakens curiosity, and helps them discover, test, and develop their talents. In addition, regular sports activities and group excursions, for example, during the holidays, take place. These complement the "Butze" offerings, as exercise and physical activity play an undeniably important role, especially for children and young people. Exercise contributes significantly to the healthy physical, mental, and psychosocial development of children and also strengthens the sense of community within the group. The project creates diverse approaches in an individually child-friendly way. Through simple language and communication, practical experimentation, and reliable caregivers, mutual exchange and shared learning processes are made possible despite language barriers. We focus our work on the following areas:
  • Equal opportunities for all children and young people
  • Healthy eating and getting to know a variety of foods
  • Relationship building and encouraging educational processes
  • Participation in social life
  • Language support
  • Sharing the acquisition of skills with the public
  • Support to strengthen self-efficacy
  • Promoting and strengthening mental and physical health Goals: Our goal is to give children and young people from structurally weaker backgrounds a good start in life. In accordance with Section 1 of the Social Code (SGB VIII), we want to support them in their development into independent and socially capable individuals and show them access to educational opportunities, which would most likely be denied to them without support. Integration and equal opportunities are our top priorities. Have we piqued your interest in the "Butze"? We would be happy to tell you more about our work in a personal conversation.
